The name Buttery originates from the cabin’s roots. Historically, the term “Buttery” was a place where food and drink were stored for the provisioning of guests and passing travelers. Built in 1804 as the original storehouse in Millwood, The Buttery housed the supplies - including “butts,” or barrels, of liquor - for the laborers running the Burwell-Morgan Mill around the clock.
Located in the historic cabin and adjoining terrace, The Buttery is an eatery offering global and local wines, craft beer, cider, and seasonal cocktails along with farm-to-table fare from the Locke Store kitchen.
